Area of a Parallelogram
Explanation

To determine the formula for the area of (the interior of) a parallelogram (A = bh), break up the parallelogram (based on a chosen base and corresponding height) and rearrange the regions into a rectangle.


Since the area of the rectangle is the product of the length and width of the rectangle (A = lw), the area of the parallelogram is the product of a base and corresponding height of the rectangle (A = bh).
