Garfield Gini-Newman: Critical Thinking as a Way of Teaching Social Studies (Part 1)

Duration: 9 minutes, 54 seconds

Garfield Gini-Newman provides an overview of the Critical Thinking Consortium (TC2) approach to embedding critical thinking into teaching and learning. Three types of questions are identified: factual; opinion or emotional; critical inquiry. Critical inquiry questions require judgments and can provide the basis for thesis statements. (Presentation at the 2005 Social Studies Summer Institute)
