Curriculum Focus

The changes to the curriculum targeted by this sample include:

• The general outcome is similar to the previous program of studies.
• The specific outcome consists of the following differences:
  • multiplying binomials and factoring trinomials has been moved to Grade 10
  • the form of  linear equations represented in this outcome include additional forms of linear equations, including:
    • ax = b
    • = b, a ≠ 0
    • ax + b = c
    • + b =c, a ≠ 0.

Working with Linear Equations addresses the following outcomes from the Program of Studies:

Specific Outcomes:	3. Model and solve problems, using linear equations of the form: ax = b = b, a ≠ 0 ax + b = c + b = c, a ≠ 0 ax = b + cx a(x + b) = c ax + b = cx + d a(bx + c) = d(ex + f) = b, x ≠ 0 where a, b, c, d, e and f are rational numbers.
