What your child is learningWhat do I need to know? Your Grade 5 child will decide what to pay attention to in novels, nonfiction books, recordings and movies and will organize information effectively. Working with others in teams, they will create interesting presentations. Your child will choose and organize their ideas carefully in their writing and will understand French grammar, using verbs, nouns and adjectives correctly. Still curious? Refer to the program of studies for more information about Grade 5 French Language Arts. How your child is assessedYour child’s learning is assessed using a variety of tools and strategies within the classroom. Ask your child’s teacher what methods they are using. The different assessment methods tell you and your child’s teacher about your child’s strengths, the areas in which they might grow and how well your child is doing throughout the course. Your child’s teacher can then change or refine their teaching plans to ensure that learning activities better meet the needs of your child. At the end of the course, your child is assessed and their achievement is reported so that you know if they have achieved the expected learning outcomes for their grade.
