What individual differences are there in reading? We are all very different in the way we read. This is because each of us has our own way of thinking, our own background and our own personality. Our experiences at home and at school may be different from the experiences of the other people around us. We develop certain language habits from non-print sources such as television and radio. Boys and girls tend to like different kinds of texts. With all these differences, the kind of support we need to become better readers is as unique as we are. The process has to be open and interesting, filled with new discoveries and fostering a growing confidence. |
