Dale Armstrong (1944-2008)

Dale Armstrong retired from Edmonton Public Schools in August 1999 as the Director of Student Assessment, a position he held for fourteen years. He completed his studies in curriculum and instruction at the University of Oregon and has pursued independent study with American assessment experts Grant Wiggins and Jay McTighe through the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and Richard Stiggins at the Assessment Training Institute in Portland, Oregon. He was instrumental in the formation of the Alberta Assessment Consortium twelve years ago and served as its chairman for four years.

In 1997, Dale was the recipient of the Edmonton Public Schools Merit Award for district staff in recognition of his outstanding long-term contributions in the areas of assessment, evaluation, communication and recognition of student learning.
