Marg Friedel

Marge Friedel was born in Lac St. Anne. She proudly expresses her history of being able to balance in both worlds – traditional and contemporary. She is very dedicated to promoting the awareness and understanding of Métis identity, culture and issues. Marge is considered an important role model for the Métis people through contemporary and cultural means. She sits as a Provincial Elder for the Métis Nation of Alberta and is a committee member to other numerous boards. She is a Student Elder and leader at the Amiskwaciy Academy High School and is known as “Kohkum” with the students for her openness, sincerity and warm smile.
