Creating Persuasive and Effective Visuals

This modelling the tools is incorporated into critical challenges at grades 4, 5, 7, 8, 11 and 12, however, it can be adapted for use at all grade levels.

 

Assessment

Assess student advertising analysis.

  • Assess students' advertising analysis as recorded on Advertising Analysis. Use the rubric found in Assessing Student Ad Analysis. According to this rubric, the task is assessed on two criteria:
    • identifying persuasive techniques
    • providing a plausible explanation.

Assess peer feedback.

  • Assess each student's feedback on Constructive Feedback by using the rubric found in Assessing Constructive Feedback. According to this rubric, the assignment is assessed on two criteria:
    • identification of positive qualities
    • constructive suggestions for improvement.

Assess the effectiveness of visuals.

  • Assess the effectiveness of students' visuals by using the rubric Assessing the Visual. According to this rubric, the visual is assessed on four criteria:
    • catchy
    • concise
    • comprehensive
    • convincing.

Assess the visuals.

The above criterion is based on social studies grade level outcomes.
