Starting your Tour

Virtual Visit offers a complete guided tour or the choice to have complete control over your avatar and the freedom to explore anywhere in the virtual Legislature. You will be presented with these two options when launching the tour.

Discover the Legislature Building on Your Own

No password required
This choice allows you to have complete control over your avatar and the freedom to explore anywhere in the virtual
Legislature that is open to the public during a live tour, including a surprise area that has not been part of the public tour for many years, but you'll have to find it yourself!

Join a Tour or Create Your Own New Group Tour

During a guided tour, the program will assume control of your avatar. All you have to do is sit back and listen as the computer-generated tour guide provides a fascinating and informative narrative about the Legislature and walks you through the building. Remember you or someone else must create a tour before you can join one.

Creating a Tour

When you create a new tour, it will automatically be given a tour name. It is important that you remember the tour name if you want others to join. You will need to type in and verify a password.

  • Select “Join a Tour or Create Your Own New Group Tour”.
  • Select “Create”.
  • Select the floor you would like to start the tour on.
  • When prompted, type and verify a password.
  • Click the “Create” button and your tour will begin.
  • Give the tour number and password to whoever is joining your tour.

Note: Don't forget to share the tour name and password with people you want to join your tour. If you want a private guided tour, don't share this information with anyone.

Joining a Tour

When joining an existing tour, you need a password from whoever created the tour. The password allows a teacher to restrict a tour group to his or her class only. No other visitors to the virtual Legislature would be able to join them.

If you are joining a tour, you will need the tour number and the password from the tour’s creator.

  • Select “Join a Tour or Create Your Own New Group Tour”.
  • Select “Join”.
  • Select the tour number your tour creator gave you from the list provided.
  • When prompted, type the password.
  • Click the “Join” button and your tour will begin.

Note: If the tour is already in progress, you will join the tour wherever it is located in the building at that time.
